The Back Door: Tactile Knife Co. The Ranger Blackwash - 3.15" MagnaCut, Titanium, Demo Unit - Made in USA (RANG-BW-DEMO)

This is listed in The Back Door. This one is a demo unit. It went in front of cameras for promotional content with our partners and got handled at shows. Any cutting it has done was light and incidental to filming. No fall damage, the edge is sound, and it was never sold to a customer or carried as somebody's daily knife.

The Ranger: A True American Knife

The Ranger Blackwash edition takes the timeless slipjoint design to another level. This special version features titanium handles treated with a blackwash finish, a process that darkens the titanium, adding a rugged, weathered look while maintaining the premium durability you'd expect. It's a subtle touch that makes this knife stand out as both a tool and a work of art.

The Ranger is more than just a pocket knife, it's a tribute to the timeless legacy of the classic slipjoint, reimagined with modern craftsmanship and a touch of Texan pride. Designed in collaboration with Jared Oeser, this knife combines the simplicity and reliability of a traditional slipjoint with the precision and durability of modern production techniques.

Inspired by our roots, Jared introduced a unique "Bowie" blade shape and an intricate pivot design that pays homage to the Ranger's heritage while pushing the boundaries of contemporary knife-making. The name "Ranger" came naturally, inspired by Jared's neighbor and friend, an Army Ranger, who saw the first prototype and left a lasting impression.

Classic Design Meets Modern Production
The Ranger blurs the line between production and custom knives. Each knife is meticulously assembled, with every blade, backspring, and handle hand-ground to achieve a seamless fit. After assembly, the knife is disassembled, marked, and carefully finished to ensure the original components are paired back together perfectly. The result? A knife that embodies heirloom-grade quality and craftsmanship.

The Ranger's pull is dialed in to a smooth 6-7, delivering that perfect "walk and talk" that slipjoint enthusiasts love. Whether it's an everyday companion or a treasured addition to your collection, the Ranger is built to stand the test of time.

Built for Adventure
Crafted from premium materials, the Ranger is as tough as it is timeless. The 3.15-inch MagnaCut blade is hardened to 63-64 HRC, offering superior edge retention and durability. The 64AL4V Grade 5 titanium handles and 17-4PH stainless steel backspring provide a sturdy, lightweight foundation, while the vintage micarta shield adds a subtle pop of warmth to its classic design. At just 3.49 ounces, the Ranger is ready to tackle anything life throws your way.
