What you can win
About this prize
ZDP-189 is a Japanese powder steel from Hitachi (now Proterial), with about 3% carbon and 20% chromium, and it's known for running very hard: Hitachi's spec puts it at 66 to 68 HRC. It's also difficult to make and to grind. Spyderco has said it was told the steel would be phased out, and the green ZDP-189 Delica is no longer made. This is our own Delica, the one in our ZDP-189 film and Shorts: a Delica 4 lockback (C11PGRE) with a plain-edge ZDP-189 blade just under 3 inches long and a British Racing Green fiberglass-reinforced nylon handle, made in Japan. Condition: pre-owned, no box. We bought it for the film and handled it on camera. How it works: signing up is free and takes one click. When the timer hits zero, 1 winner is drawn at random from all signups and gets the Delica shipped to their door.
Rules
# Drop Beacon Spyderco Delica 4 (ZDP-189) Giveaway — Rules ## THE PRIZE One winner receives a Spyderco Delica 4 (C11PGRE) with a plain-edge ZDP-189 blade and a British Racing Green FRN handle. It is pre-owned and comes without a box: bought for our ZDP-189 film and handled on camera. Drop Beacon fulfills the prize. ## HOW TO ENTER Free entry. One ticket per Drop Beacon account. Sign in (or create an account) and click Enter Drawing before the timer hits zero. No purchase necessary, no payment information collected, ever. ## BONUS ENTRIES After entering, each entrant receives a personal share link. For every friend who enters this giveaway using that link, the original entrant earns +1 bonus entry — capped at 10 extra bonus entries. Self-referrals do not count, and a single friend can contribute only one bonus entry per referrer. Bonus entries are weighted identically to standard entries in the drawing — each represents one ticket in the random selection. ## DRAWING A single winner will be selected at random from all valid entries when the timer hits zero on the drawing date shown on this page. The drawing uses a cryptographically random shuffle (CSPRNG-seeded Fisher–Yates inside a row-locked transaction) so every entry has identical odds of being drawn. The drawing is automated and not subject to manual override. ## WINNER NOTIFICATION The winner will be notified via the email on their Drop Beacon account and displayed on the giveaway page within minutes of the drawing. The winner has 7 days to confirm their shipping address. If we do not hear back, a runner-up will be drawn from the remaining entries. We only ever contact winners by email from edc4me.com. We will never ask you to message us on Telegram, WhatsApp or social media, and we never ask for payment. ## SHIPPING Free shipping within the United States, fulfilled by Drop Beacon. The prize is a knife, so we can only ship to US addresses. ## KNIFE LAWS The prize is a locking folding knife with a blade just under 3 inches long. The winner is responsible for making sure it is legal to own and carry where they live. We will not ship to a jurisdiction where it is restricted; if yours restricts it, the entry is void. ## ELIGIBILITY Open to US residents 18 or older. Void where prohibited by law. ## SPONSOR This giveaway is run by Drop Beacon. It is not sponsored or endorsed by Spyderco or Proterial (formerly Hitachi Metals).
