The Cortex XL is Brown Knives' titanium front flipper, designed, machined, and assembled in Blaine, Washington. The handle is bead-blasted 6Al-4V titanium, anodized purple with teal accents, cut in Brown Knives' milling style #3, and the 3.45 inch CPM-MagnaCut blade is hollow ground and stonewashed. This is serial number 724, and it comes with the original box and signed certificate of authenticity.

The titanium

The frame is bead-blasted 6Al-4V titanium anodized a deep purple, cut in Brown Knives' milling style #3 for texture and grip. The clip, backspacer, and hardware are anodized teal for contrast. Every run gets its own finish, so this serial is a one-off in that sense.

The front flipper

The blade rides on ceramic bearings and deploys from a front flipper, with a notched thumb rest and an overtravel stop. It is a deliberate, mechanical action.

Made in Washington

Brown Knives is a small Washington shop that designs, machines, and assembles in house. Serialized titanium folders coming out of a US shop, signed by the maker, are exactly the kind of American work we like putting in front of people.
