Wood and Epoxy

Stabilizing wood means pulling the air out under vacuum and letting resin fill every void in the grain. That locks the piece against moisture and makes it hard enough to machine and bolt to a knife.

Where the wood has checks, splits, or voids, the epoxy fills them and becomes part of the surface. Those features belong to one piece of wood, so the pattern across these scales does not repeat.

Nitro-V

Nitro-V is a nitrogen enriched stainless that sharpens easily and resists rust. It is the steel Ken reaches for on most of what he builds, and on a knife with natural handle material it is the right pairing, because neither the wood nor the blade wants moisture sitting on it.

Blue Camo Kydex

The sheath was picked to go with the handle rather than pulled off the shelf in black. That is a small thing most shops skip, and it is one of the reasons a knife from a one man operation reads differently in the hand.

About HF Blade Co.

HF stands for Homestead Forge, Ken's original name for the brand. He works a full time job and still grinds, finishes, and handles every blade himself in Michigan.

Why This One Stands Out
