Zmeyka Chetki - Polymer Editions

Zmeyka Chetki - Polymer Editions

Our Zmeyka chetki are the newest evolution of our chetki lineup. The name means “snake” in Russian, a reference to the supple flexibility of this design. The rounded, convex bead shape allows the beads to flex against one another more easily than a traditional angular design, while at the same time increasing the grip against the fingers to keep the set in control during play. The Zmeyka beads are paired with our new Molotok (meaning “hammer”) end beads. The Molotoks throw extra weight to the ends of the set, and feature a bulked up shape with a slight shelf compared to the middle beads, which helps to keep the set from slipping out from between the fingers.

Acrylic Swirl

The Zmeyka chetki design is ideally suited to lightweight materials, and it pairs beautifully with our acrylic swirl options.. They’re polished for good looks and grip, giving the set a light, fast feel that remains forgiving on the knuckles. The acrylic has a naturally grippy feel in the hand without being overly tacky, while the thicker Molotok end beads give the pieces enough presence to come together with a satisfying snap during play. The low overall weight keeps them quick and easy to manipulate, making for a lively setup. Acrylic Swirl is available in two colourways: Blue Swirl and Pink Swirl.

Black and White Delrin

The Zmeyka chetki design really shines in the delrin material. The polished delrin has that characteristic slightly waxy grip and warm, soft feel in the hand that the material is famous for, and at around 29g per set, they offer just a little more weight and momentum compared to the other polymer editions. Of the different Chetki configurations we’ve made, this is probably as close as we get to a “player’s choice” setup for technical tricks and rolls.

At a glance, the black Delrin looks nearly identical to our black Ultem sets, but the feel is distinctly different. Delrin is heavier, softer and grippier, with a warmer touch and a lower, softer clack than the harder, crisper Ultem. That extra mass helps the beads stay planted on the fingers and carry momentum through tricks. The white, by contrast, is perennially fresh and clean looking (or ready for your RIT Dyemore if that’s how you wanna roll). Both finishes are polished – lustrous on the eyes, but more importantly, providing just that little extra bit of grip to keep the set locked on your fingers during play.

Black Ultem

Black ultem brings the same exceptional material properties as our amber ultem into a darker, more dramatic palette, and it looks and plays brilliantly in the Zmeyka form. The thick, convex beads give full expression to the material in both the muted sandblasted and polished finishes. The lightweight nature of ultem keeps the set nimble and responsive through play.

The sandblasted finish has a velvety softness that allows the beads to glide effortlessly through the fingers, with a frosted appearance that starts out somewhat grey, and deepens to a rich matte black through use. The polished finish, by contrast, has that characteristic mirror-like catch, smooth on the surface but with a subtle grip that locks the set to the fingers with satisfying resistance. Both finishes are limited in availability, so if black ultem is your thing, don't sleep on these.

Amber Ultem

Amber ultem has been one of the most popular materials we've introduced over the past few years, and both the beauty and the properties of this amazing material shine in the Zmeyka chetki. The thick beads are varied enough to really give depth to the amber colour, and their size is perfectly suited to the light weight of the ultem material.

The amber ultem Zmeykas are available in both polished and sandblasted finishes. The polished finish has striking good looks and that extra grip factor provided by smoothly polished materials, while the sandblasted finish is velvety smooth and has a softer, more understated appearance. Both play brilliantly and will be a terrific addition to any chetki collection.

Clear Acrylic

The polished finish on the acrylic beads further facilitates grip, and the clear material looks terrific during play. These beads are produced through additive manufacturing (3D printed), and then finished and polished to ensure proper bore construction and good looks. Note that, due to the manufacturing method, small lines, holes, and/ or ripples may be visible on the beads.
