After well over a year in development including multiple prototyping stages, the all-new X-FOLDER from WINTERBLADE introduces a completely new approach to folding knife locks!
Built around the patent-pending X-LOCK, the X-FOLDER was designed from the ground up to rival the legendary strength and failure resistance of a balisong (butterfly) knife lock, while offering quick and easy blade actuation more akin to that of a typical folding knife.
A secondary, pivoting handle on the X-Folder KICKS the blade out, and then pivots back in to LOCK the blade. Just like a balisong, the handle itself is part of the locking system.
And just like a balisong, once locked, your grip becomes a structural element of the lock. Even a modest grip force makes blade or lock failure virtually impossible!
A key difference is that X-FOLDER opens and closes more quickly and easily than a balisong, and also boasts a unique “fidget factor” of its own!
Typical folding knife lock mechanisms are prone to lock stick, lock rock (blade play), lock wear, spring fatigue, and even total lock failure from impacts to the spine of the blade, etc. The X-FOLDER’s patent pending X-LOCK eliminates ALL of these common problems. In other words, the X-FOLDER has:
- NO potential for lock stick!
- NO potential for lock rock a.k.a. vertical blade play!
- NO potential for lock spring fatigue or breakage (because there’s no lock spring)!
- NO potential for lock failure as you naturally grip the handle!
