Spyderco Military 2 C36GS2 – 4.00″ Satin CPM S30V SpyderEdge Leaf Blade, Black G-10, Compression Lock

Spyderco Military 2 C36GS2 – Fully Serrated CPM S30V Flagship Folder

The Spyderco Military 2 C36GS2 is the SpyderEdge (fully serrated) version of Spyderco's legendary USA-made flagship folder. Its 4.00" leaf-shaped blade is ground from CPM S30V particle metallurgy stainless steel with a full-flat grind and left uncoated in a clean satin finish. Where the PlainEdge C36GP2 excels at clean push cuts, the C36GS2's continuous SpyderEdge serration pattern is built to tear through rope, webbing, cordage and fibrous material with far less effort and to keep biting long after a plain edge would need a touch-up.

Second-generation refinements carry across the whole knife. The Compression Lock sits on the spine of the handle, letting you close the knife one-handed without ever putting a finger in the blade's path, and it delivers lockup strength that rivals a much heavier frame lock. Full skeletonized stainless liners are nested into peel-ply textured black G-10 scales, the Trademark Round Hole opens the blade ambidextrously, and a 4-position pocket clip adapts to tip-up or tip-down carry on either side. At 9.51" overall and only 4.4 oz, it is a remarkably light large EDC pocket knife. Made in Golden, Colorado, USA.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the C36GS2 and the plain-edge C36GP2?
Only the edge. The Spyderco Military 2 C36GS2 carries a SpyderEdge fully serrated edge, while the C36GP2 is PlainEdge. Blade length, CPM S30V steel, satin finish, black G-10 handle and Compression Lock are identical on both.

What lock does it use and how does it work?
The Spyderco Military 2 C36GS2 uses Spyderco's Compression Lock. A leaf spring in the liner wedges between the blade tang and a stop pin, so the lock is loaded in compression rather than shear. You release it from the spine of the handle, which keeps your fingers completely out of the blade's closing path.

How do I sharpen a SpyderEdge serrated blade?
Sharpen the Spyderco Military 2 C36GS2 from the bevelled side only, using a tapered ceramic or diamond rod that fits inside each scallop, then strip the resulting burr off the flat back side with a light pass on a flat stone. A Sharpmaker's triangular rods are made for exactly this profile.

What is a leaf-shaped blade good for?
The leaf shape on the Spyderco Military 2 C36GS2 combines a broad belly for slicing with a usable point, and its full-flat grind thins the blade steadily toward the edge so it releases material instead of wedging. It is one of the most versatile everyday cutting profiles available.

Why choose CPM S30V steel?
CPM S30V is a powder-metallurgy stainless steel with vanadium carbides that give the Spyderco Military 2 C36GS2 excellent edge retention and strong corrosion resistance, while remaining tough enough for hard EDC use and realistic to re-sharpen at home.

Is the C36GS2 legal to carry?
The Spyderco Military 2 C36GS2 is a manually opened, non-automatic folding knife, but its 4.00" blade exceeds the carry limit in some cities and states. Check your local blade-length and carry statutes before carrying the Spyderco Military 2 C36GS2.

Is it left-hand friendly?
Yes. The Trademark Round Hole on the Spyderco Military 2 C36GS2 opens equally well with either hand, the Compression Lock releases from the spine, and the 4-position clip mounts tip-up or tip-down on the left or right side.
