About Special Service Sweater

Some gear stands the test of time — forged by necessity, refined through decades of hard use, and carried forward by those who depend on it. Among them, few garments have earned their reputation like the original “Wooly Pully,” the heavy-knit sweater issued to British special operations forces since the mid-20th century. Built to provide warmth, resilience, and silent mobility in harsh environments, its ribbed construction and reinforced panels became the uniform of those who worked beyond the wire.

The Special Service Sweater carries that legacy forward with modern intent. Re-engineered from the ground up, it replaces coarse wool with 100% extra-fine, non-mulesed Merino yarn — naturally thermoregulating, odor-resistant, and soft against the skin. The 5-gauge Fisherman’s rib knit traps air for insulation while maintaining stretch and recovery for unrestricted movement. Reinforced 12-gauge double-knit shoulder and back-collar panels resist abrasion from pack straps and field loads, ensuring lasting durability.

An active fit and full-length front zip adapt the classic silhouette for dynamic layering and modern versatility — easily shedding heat during exertion or sealing warmth when the temperature drops. From fieldwork to city travel, the Special Service Sweater bridges tradition and performance: a refined evolution of a military icon, purpose-built for today’s missions.
