Frequently Asked Questions

What is the blade length of the Medford Praetorian T?

The Medford Praetorian T has a 3.875" cutting edge on a 4.125" blade, for roughly 9" overall when open and about 5.25" closed. At 0.20" thick and 8.6 oz, the Praetorian T is a substantial, hard-use tactical folder.

Is S35VN a good blade steel for the Medford Praetorian T?

Yes — the Medford Praetorian T uses CPM-S35VN, a premium American powder-metallurgy stainless steel prized for its excellent edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance. It is an ideal steel for a hard-use folder like the Praetorian T, holding a keen edge while standing up to demanding cutting tasks.

What is Medford's Vulcan finish on the Praetorian T blade?

The Vulcan finish on the Medford Praetorian T is a hand-applied, heat-oxidized treatment that gives the S35VN blade a distinctive two-tone, multi-hued look. Beyond its appearance, the Vulcan finish on the Praetorian T adds a layer of surface character unique to each knife while the underlying S35VN steel does the cutting.

What is a frame lock, and how does the Medford Praetorian T use it?

A frame lock uses a machined section of the knife's metal handle that flexes inward to wedge behind the blade tang when the knife is open. The Medford Praetorian T uses an integral titanium frame lock cut directly into its solid titanium handle, creating an extremely strong, simple, one-hand-operable lockup — a hallmark of Medford's overbuilt tactical designs.

Is the Medford Praetorian T a good EDC and tactical folding knife?

Yes — the Medford Praetorian T is one of Medford's flagship tactical folders. Its full titanium construction, integral frame lock, and stout 0.20" S35VN Vulcan drop point blade let the Praetorian T handle hard-use cutting and tactical tasks, making it a rugged everyday-carry and tactical pocket knife.
