Le Régulateur Grand Feu Enamel

For the first time in Louis Erard’s lengthy history, the brand has launched one of its iconic regulator-style watches with an artisanal Swiss-made Grand Feu enamel dial. The Régulateur Email Grand Feu is a spectacular example of modern horology, combining contemporary aesthetics and traditional craftsmanship. Manufactured by Donzé Cadrans in Switzerland, the dial is built up in layers, typically five to seven, each fired at 800C, creating a clean, unwavering white surface. The two-tone indices are also enamel, fused in the final firing. Each dial is made individually by hand, defying mass production.

To contrast the ages-old dial manufacturing technique, the numerals and indexes' design is refreshingly contemporary. A relatively open and expansive dial, the large hour numerals located at the subdial at 12 have a unique sectional design staggered by thin tapered lines. The equally oversized seconds subdial balances black and gray tones for a light yet precise index. Blue-steel “fir” tree hands contrast the crisp white surface for excellent legibility. The Régulateur Email Grand Feu is in a polished 39mm steel case for great wearability.

Powering the Régulateur Email Grand Feu is the Sellita SW266-1 Swiss-made caliber. An automatic movement with a regulator layout, it features 31 jewels, hacking, hand winding, a frequency of 28,000 beats per hour, and a power reserve of at least 38 hours. The movements in use are true no-date.
