Precious metals have a timeless appeal, and since the very early days there's been an appetite for precious metal additions to our range. Back in 2022, we did a small offering of select favourites in sterling silver, pure platinum, and 24K gold, which included accent beads, mini Knucklebones, and small wearable Deadeyes. This line sold out, and as precious metal costs have increased, it has taken us until now to bring in some fresh inventory. 

The production of precious metal goods is an entirely different animal than machined products, and the market is also completely different. While these items are crafted into familiar product shapes, the material is a true differentiator. They are very expensive, but the value they hold is substantively different than anything else we sell. At this moment in 2026, the market value of platinum is roughly double what it was just four years ago, while the value of pure silver has more than tripled.

Platinum Mini Knucklebone

Aroundsquare's Knucklebones were first introduced commercially in 2017, and they sparked a whole new category of pocket friendly manipulatives that combine the creative expression of skill toys with the quiet tactile ergonomics of a worrystone. The clean, minimalist aesthetics have made the knucklebones a staple among savvy design conscious EDC folks. 

Our initial offerings were modest, with brass and stainless steel models, and it wasn't long before we introduced the coveted titanium edition. Soon, demand for more exotic high-end materials pushed us to introduce models in mokuti, zirconium, mokume gane, damascus steel, and stunning zircuti in quick succession. Our first run of precious metal Knucklebones was released in 2022, and to our surprise, we sold through both our silver and platinum editions at the time. 

Fast forward to 2026, and we are extremely proud to be once again releasing an absolutely magnificent, solid 24K platinum “Mini” Knucklebone. This exquisite piece is cast in 99.9% pure platinum, and is polished to a stunning finish. It features a distinctive debossed Aroundsquare wordmark, which further differentiates this piece from all other models. The Platinum Edition weighs in at shocking 142.52g, which truly needs to be held to be believed.

Silver MKUltras

Silver, like gold and platinum, has increased dramatically in price over the past few years, but it remains relatively more accessible. For our beaded offerings, rather than going with ultra-soft pure silver, we've opted for the much more durable Sterling Silver, which is a 92.5% pure alloy that offers much better rigidity. This matters significantly when it comes to the bores of the beads, which can tend to curl in and pinch the cord if the material is too soft. Much like copper, Sterling Silver is weighty, and will tend to show wear--taking on a hammered appearance over time. But unlike copper and pure silver, Sterling Silver tends to retain its bright metallic colour and resist tarnishing quite well.

For this release, we’ve cast three of our most popular and versatile bead shapes, in order to provide a range of offerings. First up are our 15mm Lil' Bosses, featuring a debossed logo, and weighing in at 16.69g. These beauties will be offered alone as an accent bead, as well as in situ on some gorgeous sets of 8mm zirc and zircuti beads. The weight of the Sterling Silver material makes these beads great for slinging from the boss beads alone, or you can split the set into packets for a more even weight distribution during play.

In addition to these accent beads, we are also offering, for the first time ever, full sets of sterling silver beads. We have two options for the complete sets. The “OG” MKUltras are the original design, matching the first release of the ultras in standard metals. These sets feature 19 of our 11.8mm micro bosses, strung on pure silk cord, and closed up with a 15mm lil' boss. These are hefty sets, weighing in at 171.38g of solid sterling silver. They are great on the wrist, and beautiful for raindrops, but bear in mind they will play relatively slow due to their weight. These make for an absolutely peerless accessory item, and all things considered, being Sterling Silver after all, they are recommended more as wrist wear and as a companion for breath work etc. rather than as a set for technical flipping.

The last of our silver offerings for this release is a set of Nano Bead MKUltras. This is a Chef's Special style setup, which is an arrangement of beads geared towards playability. The Nano beads are one of our lowest profile and lightest weight bead shapes, and the Chef's setup features fewer beads and more exposed cord than our standard long form setups. The result is a much lighter weight set (though still hefty at around 97.07g in this case), which translates into a nimbler play experience, and much less material cost in the case of precious metals. The Nano sets are entirely constructed from Sterling Silver, strung up on our custom pure silk cord, and feature a friction fit double boss at the closing end of the set that makes a stable counterweight for the Nano beads.

All of our Sterling Silver sets are strung up on our brand new turquoise 3mm integrally woven 100% silk cord.

Zirconium & Zircuti MKUltras

Last but certainly not least, we’re introducing a twist on one of our classics.

We’ve produced a limited run of our exotic 8mm mkultras, now featuring a 15mm sterling silver lock bead. For this release, we chose Zirconium and Zircuti for their striking contrast, pairing bright silver reflections against the cold dark gray of Zirconium and the warped blues of Zircuti.

Both variants will be available in short and long form arrangements, strung on AO2’s premium silk cord in place of our usual kevlar. To further differentiate these sets, the Zirconium sets feature a brand new green silk cord, while the Zircuti sets come on the new turquoise colour.
