Knuckle Rollers - Where have you been all my life?
In school, I was the kid flipping a pen between my fingers. I had no idea there was an entire world of skill toys built around that exact feeling. I randomly added a knuckle roller to my cart because it was inexpensive and looked interesting. I’m now sitting here wondering where this thing has been all my life.
Minimal, elegant, fun and stimulating.
I’m still learning the terminology here. From what I understand, Knuckle Bone is a specific brand, while knuckle roller is the broader category. Either way, I’m officially down the rabbit hole.
A few makers that have caught my attention so far: • Aroundsquare — especially the modular designs and those honey-dipper style knobs. • Unquiet Hands — beautiful machining and some stunning spinner work. • The Eightfold — I arrived too late for the Ultem sale, but that amber Ultem look is incredible. • Feifei EDC — the angular roller design looks like it would change the grip and flow completely.
Honestly, I’m a little glad I discovered knuckle rollers after getting into other EDC fidgets, because if I’d found them first, I might have just become a knuckle roller guy.
If you’re into this corner of EDC, point me in the right direction: • favorite makers • small makers • hidden gems • anything easier to get here in South Africa
I'm ready to jump in the deep end!
